We are stoked to introduce you to SLUGGER Vol. 1! Our first submission call opened June 15th and closed July 15th, 2025. We had no idea what to expect, but y’all showed up! We received over 400 submissions and were absolutely thrilled with the response. The quality and originality of the stories were so refreshing. We sincerely thank all the writers who submitted their work and trusted us with the review and publishing process.
This first volume features 10 original short stories. While horror is central to all of them, there is a vast mix of how that manifests—folk, sci-fi, pre-apocalyptic noir, weird, supernatural, monsters, cosmic, thriller, and of course, the body. We love all these stories, and we know you will too.
In keeping with the punk ethos that generated SLUGGER’s inception, we also have three nonfiction pieces that relate to music in some way in the “Sound Trails” section.
